Roland Attenborough was a corporate attorney, specializing in Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), who was tasked with drafting legislation to amend the California Corporations Code for one of his cases, which was subsequently accepted by the legislature. His early career involved working with Louis Kelso, the inventor and pioneer of Employee Stock Ownership, to draft federal tax laws allowing ESOPs, later approved by Congress. Throughout his career, Roland focused on implementing ESOPs, giving employees a stake in their company's success. His dedication to creating an equitable environment extended beyond his professional endeavors, as he believed in creating equal opportunities regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity.
Roland will be best remembered for his 52 years in implementing the Employee Stock Ownership Plan and for the design of the Universal Capital Account Plan.
